The US Coast Guard is reporting a sharp reduction in the number of Cuban migrants trying to reach the US by sea this year across the Florida Straits.
According to Coast Guard figures for the 2009 fiscal year that ended on September, only 799 Cubans were intercepted at sea.
That\'s well below the 2,199 stopped last year.
The Coast Guard says improved enforcement and the economic downturn have contributed to the reduction.
