The Government of St Kitts and Nevis says it\'s working towards having a significant mix of cheap renewable energy in the next two years.

The move is aimed at reducing the price of electricity.

The energy minister Earl Asim Martin says a local company, North Star St Kitts Ltd, will soon be required to supply eight megawatts of wind generated electricity.

The minister says wind testing done at a site earmarked for a wind farm development shows a very strong potential for wind electricity generation.

A geothermal energy project in Nevis is also expected to play a role in the federation’s energy supply.
