Professional Boxing returns to Jamaica

Professional boxing returns to Jamaica tomorrow night after a long absence when Ricardo Planter and Testi Davis face off in a middleweight contest over six rounds.
The match up will take place at the Barbican Beach in Kingston and is the feature bout on a card, which also features eight amateur fights.
The state-run Institute of Sports, which handed over 260 thousand dollars to the Jamaica Boxing Board of Control yesterday to help offset the cost of the boxing card, is the title sponsor.
Leroy Brown, General secretary of the Jamaica Boxing Board of Control, says the local association is happy to be involved with the first professional bout in many years.
Three of the amateur fights will feature Jamaican boxers against their counterparts from Barbados.
The match ups are:- Jamaican Richard Walker against Barbadian Damion Sealy in the Super Heavyweight division; Jamaican Michael Holmes against Barbadian Adrian Bisscette in the Middle Weight division; and Jamaican Sakima Mullings against Keithland King in the Welter Weight division.
The Barbadians are scheduled to arrive in the country this afternoon, a day before the official weigh-in at the Stanley Couch Gym.
