Camperdown whips Papine
Camperdown hammered Papine 8-0 at Vauxhall yesterday to give themselves a chance of qualifying for the second round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup competition.
As a result of the victory, Camperdown have moved to second place in Group ‘D’ with 15 points, one behind leaders St Andrew Technical High School, whose match against Wolmers Boys was rained out at half-time with the scores locked at nil-all.
Over in Group ‘A’, hosts Jamaica College outscored Waterford 4-2 in their top-of-the-table match.
Jamaica College have now moved to 21 points, one behind Waterford. Both schools have already advanced to the second round.
In the group’s other games, Pembroke Hall whipped Penwood 5-nil, while Edith Dalton James turned back Donald Quarrie 3-2.
Over in Group ‘E’, Bridgeport High and Tivoli battled to a 1-all draw in their top-of-the-table match, while St Catherine blanked Kingston High 2-nil. The game between St Andrew College and Holy Trinity was not played because of rain.
The competition continues tomorrow with nine games.
