KC book place in Manning Cup second round
Kingston College secured the final qualifying spot in the second round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup football competition yesterday after battling to a goalless draw against Innswood at Chedwin Park in St Catherine.
As a result of the victory, KC hold on to second place in Group ‘B’ with 23 points, one ahead of third place St Jago, who blanked group winners Norman Manley 2-0.
In the other Group ‘B’ match Ardenne defeated Haile Selassie 2-0.
The other qualifiers are :- Jamaica College and Waterford from Group ‘A’; Excelsior and Calabar from Group ‘C’; Bridgeport and Tivoli Gardens from Group ‘D’, St Andrew Technical High School and Wolmers from Group ‘E’ and defending champions St Georges College and Eltham from Group ‘F’.
In other games yesterday:- Spanish Town beat Calabar 2-nil, Trench Town and Campion College drew 2-2, Cumberland edged Tarrant 2-1; Eltham defeated St Mary’s College 5-0, St George’s hammered Kingston Technical 6-0 and Jamaica College carved out a 6-0 victory over Pembroke Hall.
