Jamaica’s netabllers were beaten 61-56 by world number two New Zealand last night in the opening match of their two-Test National Commercial Bank Sunshine Series at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
The defeat came two days after the Sunshine Girls registered their first victory in 11 years over world number one Australia in a similar series. That series ended 1-all.
Maria Tutaia led the Silver Ferns with 33 goals from 34 attempts, while Irene Van Dyke had 28 from 31.
For Jamaica, Romelda Aikens scored 35 from 42 and captain Simone Forbes had 21 from 23.
Jamaica and New Zealand will face off again tomorrow at the same venue.
