The world fastest man Usain Bolt has not confirm if he will travel to Singapore with a Jamaican delegation to help and promote the first Youth Olympics, which will be staged next year.

Singapore will host the Games from July 14 to 26.

Minister of Sports Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange says Singapore has decided to fund refurbishing works on the running track at the National Stadium and the Stadium East field through a bilateral agreement with Jamaica.

The Minister says in return for funding the project, Singapore has made a special request for Bolt, the 100 and 200-metre record holder, to be among the delegation coming to the country to help and promote the Youth Olympics.

However, Minister Grange says she will ensure that the country gets the financial help from Singapore even if Bolt turns down the invitation to travel with the delegation.

Minister Grange says former 100-metre record holder Asafa Powell and Veronica Campbell-Brown have already confirmed going to Singapore with the delegation.

Germany firm BSW Regupol, one of the five contractors which is bidding for the contract to refurbish the National Stadium and Stadium East tracks, has quoted US$700,000 to carry out job.
