Dominican Magistrate threatened
A magistrate, has confirmed that he has been receiving death threats because of his controversial sentencing of convicted criminals.
But Magistrate Tiyani Behanzin, has told the Dominica News Online website, that he is not intimated.
The magistrate also dismissed local media reports that he was the only magistrate in the country with bodyguards.
Magistrate Behanzin is the son of late prime minister Roosevelt Douglas.
Since his appointment in March, Behanzin has been deemed to be a magistrate who exercises a heavy sentencing policy.
Meanwhile, the magistrate is claiming that there is an organised conspiracy to remove him from the bench.
He has referred to the recent decision to assign him to the northern district, while cutting back on his days of work in the capital.
