Italian PM to be tried next month for tax fraud
Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, is to go back on trial next month after he was accused of tax fraud.
The move follows a recent decision by Italy\'s highest court to lift his immunity from prosecution, while serving in office.
Berlusconi is to stand trial on November 16, much earlier than expected, on charges linked to the purchase of TV and film rights by his family company, Mediaset.
He has however denied the charges.
The Italian prime minister also faces another trial, yet to be set, for bribing a British tax lawyer.
Berlusconi had been facing two separate trials last year, before a law was passed giving him immunity while he was in office.
The immunity has been lifted by Italy\'s Constitutional Court, paving the way for him to go back on trial.
