The Governor of Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuno, has put the estimated initial cost to fight last week\'s gasoline refinery fire at $6.4 million.

The massive explosion at the Caribbean Petroleum Corporation plant near San Juan left two people injured and destroyed 15 fuel tanks.

US President Barack Obama has since designated Puerto Rico an emergency zone and has ordered federal aid to supplement local efforts.

The FBI is among agencies investigating what may have caused the explosion, which spewed thick, toxic smoke across the area and forced hundreds to evacuate on Friday.
