Finance officials in Grenada said they are hoping that good relations will continue with the United States investment bank Bear Stearns despite its sellout.

The JP Morgan Chase buyout of Bear Stearns sparked a credit crisis in the US that led to heavy losses in stock markets around the world.

Following Hurricane Ivan in 2004, Grenada reportedly asked Bear Stearns to act as a dealer manager in restructuring the island\'s external debts.

The permanent secretary in the Finance Ministry, Timothy Antoine, said he does not expect that relationship to be compromised.
