Perfect start for Glenmuir High
Newly crowned Ben Francis Knockout champion Glenmuir High secured a perfect start to the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup inter-zone round with a 2-0 victory over Port Antonio High at Carder Park in Portland.
Glenmuir got both goals from Roman Whittaker.
In the second game in the group, Bog Walk joined Glenmuir as Group Five early leaders with a hard fought 4-2 win over Annotto Bay at the St Mary Sports Club.
Meanwhile, reigning champions St James High had to settle for a goalless draw against Frome Technical in their Group 1 encounter at Frome Sports Ground in Westmoreland.
In Group One, Mannings School blanked William Knibb High 2-0 at Frome Sports Club.
Over in Group Two, Marcus Garvey edged Grange Hill 1-0, while Cornwall College and Rusea’s played to a 1-1 draw.
Over in Group Three, Spaldings beat Bellefield 1-0, while Clarendon College and Munro battled to a 1-1 draw.
Over in Group Four, Manchester beat Edwin Allen 1-0, while Lennon and St Elizabeth Technical High School played to a 1-1l draw.
Over in Group Six, Dinthill beat St Mary Technical 3-1 and Paul Bogle and Garvey Maceo ended 1-1.
The competition continues on Saturday with 11 games.
