Sri Lanka pile on the pressure

Former Captain, Mahela Jayawardene hit a fluent double century as Sri Lanka took a sizable lead today against India on the third day of the first cricket test in Ahmedabad.



At the close of play, Sri Lanka replying to India’s first innings total of 426, were 591 for 5 with Mahela Jayawardene undefeated on 204 and Prasanna Jayawardene 84 not out.



Sri Lanka, who resumed this morning on 275 for 3, now lead by 165 runs.



The two Jayawardenes has so far compiled a record sixth wicket stand of 216 for Sri Lanka.



Both India\'s pacemen Zaheer Khan, 2 for 93, and Ishant Sharma 2 for 108, have so far taken 2 wickets apiece.
