Guyana opposition pushes for inquiry

Guyana\'s opposition parties say they will continue to actively pursue the international community to hold an inquiry into alleged abuses.

Those abuses include extra-judicial killings reportedly sanctioned by the government.

However, the Jagdeo administration has always denied the claims.

The allegations were sparked by recent legal proceedings in the US involving a confessed Guyanese drug dealer Roger Khan.

It was claimed that Mr Khan headed a group which was involved in about 200 unsolved murders in Guyana.

Mr Khan himself claimed that he had links with the government and that his group assisted with law enforcement activities.
