Vincentians are to go to the polls today to vote in a referendum on whether to adopt a new constitution.
The governing Unity Labour Party, led by Prime Minster Dr Ralph Gonzalves, has been campaigning for a new constitution, but this has not been supported by the opposition New Democratic Party.
More than 98,000 people are eligible to vote in the referendum.
Among the key issues voters are being asked to support is whether the country should become a Republic and whether to retain the death penalty.
St Vincent’s Electoral Commission said it will extend the opening times of polling stations to ensure voters get the chance to have their say in today’s historic constitutional referendum.
