Barcelona defeat Milan at Champions League
Barcelona of Spain revived their chances of holding onto the Champions League title with a 2-0 home victory over Inter Milan at Camp Nou yesterday, while Fiorentina and Arsenal advanced to the last 16 and five-time winner Liverpool were eliminated.
In danger of going out of the competition if the results had gone badly, Barcelona raised their game to comfortably beat the Italian champion and climb to the top of the Group F standings.
The victory lifted Barcelona from third to first and all but ensured qualification while Inter are now in danger of going out.
Jose Mourinho\'s team is level on 6 points with newly crowned Russian champion Rubin Kazan which were held goalless at home by Dynamo Kiev of Ukraine.
Italian club Fiorentina made it to the second round with a 1-0 victory over Lyon of France, which had already qualified from Group E, and that result put Liverpool of England out despite a 1-0 victory at Hungary\'s Debrecen.
Arsenal, also of England, qualified for the last 16 with a 2-0 home victory over Standard Liege of Belgium.
Of the 16 teams in action today, Manchester United, Chelsea, Porto and Bordeaux have already made it to the knockout phase.
