Phillippines arrests politician on murder charge

Authorities in the Phillipines have charged a politician with murder in connection with the massacre of 57 unarmed civilians in the country.



Andal Ampatuan Junior, who is the mayor of Datu Unsayalso and the son of a Philippines provincial governor was arrested yesterday.



He had voluntarily turned himself in to the police for questioning.



News broke on Monday that a group of journalists, lawyers and a politician\'s family members were abducted and killed and buried in a mass grave.



It has not yet been determined if Ampatuan will be charged for each of the 57 deaths.



The state-run Philippines News Agency has reported that five other people believed to be connected to the massacre are to be prosecuted.
