West Indies lose Taylor to back injury
The West Indies’ tour of Australia has taken another turn for the worse.
The team’s best bowler, Jerome Taylor, has been ruled out of the rest of the series with a back injury.
Team Manager, Joel Garner said Taylor would be sent home and the selectors were discussing reinforcement.
The loss of Taylor, who has taken 82 wickets in 29 Tests, leaves the West Indies with a threadbare pace attack and with uncapped Gavin Tonge seemingly the next in line.
The West Indies are more optimistic that batsman, Ramnaresh Sarwan will be available for the Adelaide Test, starting Friday.
Meanwhile, Captain Chris Gayle is embarrassed by team’s staggering meltdown by an innings and 65 runs inside three days in the opening test.
However, the West Indies captain has no plans to resign from his position, although he has faced vehement criticism in the Caribbean and now Down Under for his style of leadership.
Gayle admitted that times were tough for him and his side, but said he’s determined to be the strong captain the team needs right now.
