The Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) said it will be holding consultations with Caribbean countries early next year, to discuss the implications of new guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) on how to treat people with HIV.
The WHO has said that people with the disease should be given anti-retroviral drugs one to two years earlier.
The organization said its latest research shows that this will significantly improve the chances for survival.
According to Senior Advisor of PAHO\'s Caribbean Office, Dr Amalia Del Riego, the adoption of the new guidelines should not pose a challenge for the Caribbean.
