Police in Guyana are probing an accident yesterday that left three people dead and fourteen hospitalized.

Police spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker said the accident occurred when a minibus carrying passengers collided with a pick-up truck about 35 miles from the southern Guyanese township of Lethem near the border with Brazil.

It was the second major accident in just over a week.

Last Sunday six people died and eight others were injured when a minibus smashed into the rear of a sand truck.
