A British Labour group is calling for the UK government to urgently review the new air passenger duties, warning that it is crippling the Caribbean.

Speaking in the House of Lords yesterday, Baroness Howells, who was born in Grenada, confronted City Minister Lord Myners after he mocked rich Government Ministers traveling to off shore tax havens in the Caribbean.

Lord Myners said the government would need more research on the tax, which came into effect on 1 November.

However, Baroness Howells said the Caribbean region was already feeling the impact.
