Environment Minister in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Douglas Slater, has called for an integrated approach to water management in the Caribbean.

He was speaking as regional stakeholders gathered in the country for the annual general meeting of the Caribbean Basin Water Management Programme.

Mr Slater told delegates attending the meeting, that there are many competing interests with regard to the distribution of water and these have to be balanced to ensure equity.

He says such an integrated approach is necessary to ensure that water is distributed in a sustainable manner.

The regional meeting is being held under the theme Exploring Opportunities for Reforming the Water Sector in the Caribbean.
