University council approves UCC degree programmes
The University Council of Jamaica has now approved the degree programmes offered by the University College of the Caribbean (UCC).
The Council is the government’s quality assurance body for higher educational institutions in Jamaica.
UCC President, Winston Adams, said the approval of his University’s degree programmes is a significant milestone.
With the approval, civil servants who study at the UCC will now be able to receive financial assistance from the government.
In addition, UCC students will now be able to receive financial help from the Students’ Loan Bureau (SLB).
Previously the SLB did not fund studies at the UCC, because its programmes were not accredited.
UCC graduates will also be able to transfer their credits and matriculate into Master’s degree programmes at local or international universities.
