Delay in naming 18 member squad for four-day competition
The Jamaica Cricket Association has delayed naming the country’s 18-member squad for next month’s West Indies Cricket Board’s four-day competition.
The squad was expected to be named at the end of yesterday’s final day of the four-day practice match at Melbourne Oval.
However, the national selection committee of Nehemiah Perry, Ephraim McLeod, Ruddy Williams and Coach, Junior Bennett will now meet on Thursday to select the squad.
The final practice match between Tamar Lambert’s Eleven and Dave Bernard’s Eleven ended in a draw.
Setting a target of 448 runs, Bernard’s Eleven reached 149 without loss when the game was called off with Danza Hyatt on 76 and Brenton Parchment on 55.
Earlier, discarded West Indies batsman, Xavier Marshall stroked 137 to lead Tamar Lambert’s Eleven to 304 in their second innings.
Marshall, who resumed yesterday on 101, with the scores on 201 for 6, hammered 8 fours and 11 sixes.
It was the second century for Marshall in the match. Odean Brown supported with 39.
Akeem Dewar was the most successful bowler for Dave Bernard’s Eleven with 4 for 120. Bevon Brown chipped in with 3 for 48 and Nkrummer Bonner had 2 for 46.
Final Scores in the match are Tamar Lambert 427 and 304, Dave Bernard’s Eleven 283 and 149 without loss.
