The US Customs and Border Protection Department says it expects to use a new Predator aircraft drone in the Caribbean to combat drug trafficking.
The department took delivery of its first Predator B yesterday.
Testing of the aircraft is due to begin in early 2010.
The plane has an enhanced radar system and will be used to scan US waters for smugglers.
