Bermudian Premier, Dr Ewart Brown has issued a fresh demand for control over how the police force operates.

The demand came just an hour after releasing a joint statement with the Governor that said the two are working closely together as gang warfare escalates across the island.

Brown who is currently in London for the Overseas Territories Consultative Committee meeting, said he is pleading with Government House to establish new policing strategies, ones which Governor Sir Richard Gozney said were already in place.

The Governor is responsible for internal security with operational control delegated to the Commissioner of Police.

A joint statement on Tuesday said a number of US Police officers experienced in anti-drug gang and anti-gun crime would be sent to Bermuda to offer the Bermuda Police Service the benefit of their experience and expertise.
