One of the opposition parties contesting Dominica\'s December 18 general election is pushing for a Freedom of Information Act.

The minority Dominica Freedom Party, which had no seats in the outgoing parliament, says the act is needed to ensure more transparency in government.

Party leader Judith Pestaina says the act is also necessary to enable the public to continue receiving the information they deserve from politicians.

Ms Pestaina says this will help to keep the country aware of agreements being negotiated on the people\'s behalf.
