The chairman of the governing St Kitts & Nevis Labour Party is denouncing claims from the opposition that he intends to resign from the party.

Dr Timothy Harris, who\'s also the finance minister, is denying suggestions from the People\'s Action Movement that there was a dispute between Prime Minister Denzil Douglas and himself, about financial measures.

The Prime Minister announced on Monday that the government will be paying public servants a double salary this month.

Other measures include waiving the December fuel surcharge on electricity.

Dr Harris says these matters have all been discussed at cabinet level, as well as between his ministry and the St Kitts and Nevis Anguilla National Bank, the government\'s main banker.

He says he has no intention of resigning from the Labour Party.
