Glen Johnson lands another major fight

Jamaican ex-world champion, Glen Johnson has landed a major International Boxing Federation (IBF) title elimination bout against American Yusuf Mack next month in spite of his recent loss to Chad Dawson.

Promoter Lou DiBella has announced a January 30 IBF light heavyweight title eliminator between Johnson and Mack at the Mandalay Bay.

The winner of the fight will be the IBF’s Number One ranked light heavyweight and will be the mandatory challenger to current IBF champion, Tavoris Cloud.

The opportunity is huge for the 40-year-old Johnson, whose career suffered another critical setback last month when he lost his rematch with Dawson for the World Boxing Council interim title.

Mack, a former US Boxing Association super middleweight champion, is unbeaten in five fights since moving up to the higher light heavyweight division and he is confident he will retire the Jamaican.
