Antigua’s Education Minister, Jacqui Quinn-Leandro, has warned untrained teachers to upgrade their qualification or face being forced from the classroom.
Mrs. Quinn-Leandro said a study conducted by her ministry has revealed that more than 50 percent of the teachers in government schools are untrained.
She said teachers who are ill-prepared, irresponsible and unprofessional, are affecting the learning of students.
The Antiguan government has decided to remove untrained teachers over the next four years and put in a place a policy, which will require certification before they enter the classroom.
