A United States-based company is claiming US$100 million in damages in a lawsuit filed against Suriname’s national telephone company, Telesur.

DOT SR Inc, a company registered in Florida, has named Telesur and three of its officials in the suit for breach of contract, defamation and tortuous interference with business relationships.

The company claims that Telesur and its officials violated a contract within 90 days of its signing.

DOT SR also claimed that Telesur officials deliberately failed to fulfil their contractual obligations.

DOT SR claims that due to Telesur’s actions it was unable to invest in the project and generate greater revenue.
