Jacques Kallis, in his first game since breaking a rib, hit a terrific unbeaten 112 to lead South Africa to 262-4 at stumps on today’s first day of the opening Test against England at Supersport Park Stadium.

Kallis began his innings just before lunch, and produced a chanceless knock with 14 fours and a six.

He shared an unbroken 103 run partnership with JP Duminy, who is on 38.

Spinner Graeme Swann was the best bowler for England with two for 61 from a marathon 24 overs, while Stuart Broad and Graham Onions picked up a wicket a piece.
