Climate deal delayed

The Danish presidency of the climate summit in Copenhagen said a deal may have to wait until 2010.

Officials say while progress could be made, an international agreement could be delayed until a 2010 meeting in Mexico.

Meanwhile the deadlock in talks at the climate summit has now been broken.

The summit hosts, Denmark, had to drop plans to propose new draft texts yesterday after opposition from many developing nations.

Developed and developing nations remain at odds over who should cut emissions, how deep the cuts should be, and how much aid should go to poor countries.

US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton told the meeting her country was prepared to work towards mobilizing US$100 billion a year for developing countries.
