Bermuda teenager faces life
A teenager in Bermuda is facing a life sentence after he was convicted by a Supreme Court for the gruesome murder of two homeless men last year.
The jury found 19-year-old Darronte Dill guilty of killing former regiment soldier Maxwell Brangman, 57 and Frederick Gilbert, 53, on September 21.
The court was told that Dill and an accomplice, who was not before the court, stabbed Gilbert several times and slit his throat before his accomplice smashed his head with a rock.
Dill then set the shed on fire, burning Brangman’s body.
He’s said to have showed no visible emotion as the jury returned the guilty verdicts against him.
Court officials say he will automatically get a life sentence but Chief Justice Richard Ground will set the minimum period he must serve at a later date.
