Dominican general elections take place today

Dominica’s electoral officials say all is in place for today’s general elections.
Chief Elections Officer, Merina Williams said additional staff has been brought in to ensure a smooth flow of activities and all officers have been issued with the relevant material to conduct the poll.
62 candidates, representing five political parties and six independents, have been nominated to contest the elections, which are being monitored by the Organization of American States, and CARICOM.
67,227 electors are eligible to cast their ballots at 249 polling stations.
The polls open at 7:00 this morning and close at 5:00 this afternoon.
The ruling Labour Party of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is seeking its third consecutive term in office.
