The leader of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s trade unions, who was arrested during a demonstration with the police, is to go to court on January 13.
David Abdullah, the President of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions and Non Government Organization, appeared in court yesterday where the matter was adjourned until next year.
Abdullah was arrested during a clash between protestors and the police in front of the twin island republic’s Parliament last Friday.
He was charged with obstructing free passage.
On December 18, several persons took to the street to demand that the government withdraw legislation, which the Patrick Manning government said should bring about equity in the payment of property taxes.
