A former Dominican Prime Minister, Edison James, has warned against fragmenting the banana industry in the Windward Islands.
St. Lucia and Dominica growers have been expressing uncertainty about whom to sell their bananas, because their companies have not been certified under the fair trade label.
The St. Lucia Banana Corporation obtained an injunction preventing the Windward Islands Banana Development and Exporting Company, from ending a banana supply contract with the corporation.
Mr. James warned that failure to quickly resolve the current banana dispute in the Windwards would harm the industry.
