The day belonged to Richard Mitchell
Jockey Richard Mitchell starred at Caymanas Park yesterday with three winners, including highly fancied BIG DIVA for trainer, Tony Kirlew in the Sweet Ruckus Trophy over 1400 metres.
Mitchell brought the 7 to 5 chance BIG DIVA from off the pace to win the Sweet Ruckus Trophy race for native bred and imported two-year-olds by four lengths from his more fancied stable companion, CAT FOR THE KING and the 4 to 5 favourite ALL ABOUT THE CASH.
The 37-year-old jockey also won aboard GLOBAL WARMING at odds of 5 to 2 for trainer Kingsley Davis in the eighth race over 1300 and the American colt, CHINA CROSSING at odds of 5 to 2 for trainer Morris Powell in the ninth over 1500 metres.
There were two stunning upsets on the card, TOUCHDOWN at 49 to 1 in the opening race, and top weight MUCHO GUSTO at 22 to 1 in the seventh over 1300 metres for open allowance horses.
