Manchester United defeat Hull
Wayne Rooney scored a goal and was instrumental in Manchester United’s other two goals as they beat struggling Hull 3-1 yesterday, to cut Chelsea’s lead at the top of the Premier League to just two points.
Rooney gave United the lead in first-half injury time at the KC Stadium, but then made a mistake that led to Craig Fagan’s penalty equalizer.
The England striker stepped up a gear to force an own goal from Andy Dawson and then set up a third goal for strike partner Dimitar Berbatov.
The hard-fought victory lifted United back above Arsenal into second and within two points of leaders Chelsea.
Earlier Arsenal Captain, Cesc Fabregas came off the bench to inspire the Gunners to a 3-0 win over Aston Villa which hauls them back into the title race.
Arsene Wenger’s men are now just four points behind leaders Chelsea with a match in hand.
