Child killed by grenade in Belize
A 14-year-old boy was killed and two other persons injured after a grenade was tossed into a crowd in Belize last night.
Police Commissioner Crispin Jeffries says no one has yet been arrested in the attack that claimed the life of Rudolph Flowers.
Flowers was among a group of young people who had gathered in a yard on Kraal Road, on the south side of the capital, when an unidentified person threw the grenade.
Eyewitnesses say shrapnel from the grenade caused massive injury to Flowers’ body and he died soon after his arrival at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
Two other persons were released after receiving treatment at the hospital.
Rival gangs have in the past few weeks stepped up their criminal activities in the capital, with police saying that four men had been killed in as many weeks.
