Dominica’s new Cabinet to be sworn in Monday
The new cabinet of Dominican Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit is to be sworn in on Monday.
Secretary to the Cabinet, Felix Gregoire said the ceremony will be held at the Windsor Park Stadium and that January 4 has been declared a public holiday.
The names and portfolios of the Cabinet members are yet to be made public.
Skerrit’s Dominica Labour Party won a third consecutive general election, over the main opposition United Workers Party (UWP) by an 18-3 margin on December 18.
The UWP has said that its members will boycott the new parliament, complaining that the election, monitored by observer teams from the Organization of American States and the Caribbean Community, have been marred by various irregularities.
Both the OAS and the CARICOM observer teams have expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the polls.
