Teams arrive for four-day champs opening round
The five overseas teams participating in this weekend’s opening round of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Four-day Championship arrived in the island yesterday.
Jamaica’s opening round opponents, Windward Islands, were among the teams that arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport. They will face off at Chedwin Park in St Catherine, beginning on Friday.
St Lucian all-rounder Darren Sammy will lead Windward Islands’ 13-man squad.
Trinidad and Tobago’s 13-man squad led by Daren Ganga also arrived.
The Trinidadians are coming off impressive runs of form in the 20/20 Champions League last October, where they finished as runners up, and in the WICB President’s Cup in November where they took the title.
T&T opening game will be against Combined Campuses and Colleges at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay.
The other opening round game will see Barbados playing Leeward Islands at Kensington Park in Kingston.
