South Africa take charge of third Test

Three late wickets on today’s fourth day of the third Test have put hosts South Africa well in charge against England at Newlands.



Set a world record 466 to win, England began encouragingly with a century opening stand between Andrew Strauss, 45 and Alastair Cook 55.



Both then went for the addition of just 6 runs, and after Kevin Pietersen followed too, England stumbled to a vulnerable 132 for 3 by the close.



Dale Steyn, Friedel de Wet and Paul Harris have taken the wickets to fall.



Earlier, South Africa who resumed on 312 for 2, an overall lad of 330, declared their second innings on 447 for 7. Captain Graeme Smith, who was 162 overnight, finally went for 183.



James Anderson, 3 for 98 and Graeme Swann, 3 for 127 were the pick of the England bowlers.



Scores in the game so far are South Africa 291 and 447 for 7 declared, England 273 and 132 for 3.



England lead the series 1-0.
