The Guyana police are probing the circumstances under which millions of dollars went missing from the Police Headquarters in Georgetown.
The police say they are probing the disappearance of $3.4 million from a safe in the headquarters.
They say initial investigations revealed no sign that the office was broken into.
However, the police say, the money and the keys to the storage container had been placed under the protection of three officers at the headquarters.
This is the second such incident at the Guyanese police headquarters in less than a year.
The police are still investigating the first disappearance of an undisclosed sum of money.
