WICB defends reduced four-day championships

West Indies Cricket Board, WICB, says it will go ahead by experimenting with the pink balls for the regional first-class season.

The WICB says some matches during the 2010 first class season will be played as day/night affairs and pink balls will be used.

Just recently chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago senior cricket panel Dudnath Ramkessoon urged the WICB to re-consider the use of the pink balls.

Ramkessoon says tests so far on the pink balls have not gone down well and there are questions over the integrity of the balls.

Other regional boards have also blasted the idea of using the pink balls.

However, WICB Vice President Dave Cameron has asked players not to be fearful of the use of the pink balls.
