The Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association and Scotiabank Group will host the inaugural Golden Cleats Awards tonight to recognise the nation’s top athletes and coaches.

The awards ceremony will take place on the lawns of Jamaica House, starting at 7:30.

Tickets for the event, which went for $7,500, are all sold out. The function takes on a fund-raising format and proceeds are earmarked to purchase training equipment for the country’s athletes.

The male and female Athletes of the Year, along with the top coach, who have all been selected by a Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association committee, will be announced at the function.

The world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt should easily walk away with the Male Athlete of the Year.

Three athletes are in line for the Female Athlete of the Year. They are Shell-Ann Frazer, Melaine Walker and Brigitte Foster-Hylton.
