Guyana to focus on agriculture

The Guyanese government says the country is positioning its agriculture sector to play a more pivotal role both locally and regionally.

The parliament has just passed the Guyana Livestock Development Authority Bill.

Guyana already exports beef and chicken and intends to add mutton to that list.

The new authority is expected to monitor and assess problems and opportunities, while also assisting farmers to develop cost effective and sustainable livestock systems.
