Health plea to US leaders

The governors of three US territories have written to the White House and Congress to seek more favourable funding under proposed health care reform legislation.

The leaders of the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam have urged the Obama administration to reconcile the House and Senate bills to include the 4.4 million US citizens residing in the territories.

They are particularly concerned about resources under Medicaid, a programme for low-income earners.
