Four students were killed in Trinidad yesterday in a motor vehicle crash.

Reports out of Trinidad say the four, who were students of the University of the West Indies, died when the wagon they were traveling in collided with a van.

They have been identified as 23-year-old Rickson Lalla, his girlfriend, Saradiya Sharma, Marvin Siberan and Rikki Balroop.

The Trinidadian police say Lalla, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into the approaching van about 1.30am in the morning.

The four were said to be heading to a birthday party when the incident happened in Sangre Chiquito, in southeastern Trinidad.
