Jamaica beat Leeward Islands
Champions Jamaica defeated Leeward Islands by 7 wickets on yesterday’s final day of their second round West Indies Cricket Board four-day match at Warner Park in St Kitts.
The Leeward Islands, trailing Jamaica by 191 runs on first innings, were dismissed for 216 after resuming on 62 for 2.
Recalled West Indies batsman, Runako Morton top scored for Leeward Islands with 108. David Bernard was the most successful bowler for Jamaica with 6 for 82.
Batting a second time and needing 27 runs for victory, Jamaica reached the target for the loss of 3 wickets against the bowling of Gavin Tonge 2 for 12.
As a result of the victory, Jamaica have now moved to maximum 24 points for sole leadership of the table. They are followed by Barbados on 15.
Final scores in the match are Leeward Islands 188 and 216, Jamaica 379 for 8 declared and 27 for 3.
